Giusi Condorelli

Embassy of Italy | Science Counselor for Health

Dr. Giusi Condorelli, Medical Director of the Ministry of Health of Italy is the Scientific Attche at the Embassy of Italy in Washington.

  • Graduated in Medicine and Surgery and specialized in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy, she worked for almost twenty years at the Ministry of Health.

  • Has dealt in particular with public health, international prophylaxis and health care for airborne personnel.

  • Before Washington, held the position of Health Attache at the Embassy of Italy in Beijing, where she promoted health collaboration between Italy and China, bilateral and multilateral scientific and health relations and dialogue in the field of medical research. It has also contributed to the collaboration between Italy and China to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Evelina Šanta-Kahle

Embassy of Germany | Science Counselor

Evelina Šanta-Kahle has a degree in Neurosciences from the University of Vienna and postgraduate degree in Western Balkan studies.

  • Started her career at the Austrian Research Promotion Agency, where she was coordinator of EU projects with Western Balkan Countries.

  • Worked for the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation as EU policy advisor in Madrid before she moved to Brussels to head the EU liaison office of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, where she was involved in the Spanish EU Council presidency.

  • After that, she started working at the German federal Ministry of Education and Research in Bonn, where she was senior policy expert in EU research policy as well as research policy in sustainability and climate change issues.

  • Coordinated the team of the German EU Council presidency in 2020 and took over the position of Science Counselor at the German embassy in Washington DC in Nov.2021

Mireille Guyader

Embassy of France | Counselor for Science and Technology 

Mireille Guyader is the Counselor for Science and Technology for the Embassy of France in the United States since September 2021, and director of research at the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research (Inserm) since 2015.

  • Previously, she was Director of the Department for Research capacity building and Innovation at the French National Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD), a French public research institution supporting equitable scientific partnerships, promoting interdisciplinary and sustainability science with emerging and developing countries.

  • Prior to this position her science diplomat career included her posting as Head of the Inserm Office in the United States for 6 years and as Science Attaché for the Life Sciences and Biomedical Research at the Consulate General of France in Los Angeles for 5 years.  

  • She has a strong scientific background and worked on HIV research for 18 years.  She received her PhD in Microbiology/Biochemistry from the Université Denis Diderot (Paris VII) in 1990.
